Position Announcement: Manager of Student Programs (MSP)

The Foundation for International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS) builds a
community of people with ties to the University of Washington and Puget Sound
who believe in the power of friendship, curiosity, and dialogue to create a more
peaceful world. FIUTS seeks a Manager of Student Programs to join a fast paced,
dynamic, and team-oriented 501 (c) 3 nonprofit environment. Founded in 1948,
FIUTS has been creating opportunities to foster global understanding for over half
a century. At the intersection of the University of Washington and our community,
FIUTS’ mission is to inspire lifelong engagement in experiences that build global
understanding.

Work Study Position: Education Outreach Assistant

Job Description
Responsible for supporting the FIUTS Manager of Education Outreach certain aspects of FIUTS Education Outreach Programs, with special emphasis on administrative aspects of Study Abroad Orientation and School Outreach Programs. The position runs for the academic year, with possible employment extension through summer months.

Duties Include:
• Manage Student Data and Program Schedule in Excel Format, Mail Merges
• Answering email and phone inquiries
• Create promotional literature such as fact sheets, and simple brochures
• Attend quarterly orientation on a Saturday and assist Manager of Education Outreach
• Prepare orientation materials
• Develop/maintain Study Abroad Orientation website

General Office Duties:
• Assist other staff members with projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
• Comfort with program management
• Demonstrated writing ability
• Attention to fine detail
• Computer proficiency required: Microsoft Office, Excel, Web design
• Familiarity with Filemaker Pro and Pine based email a plus
• Must be eligible for work study

Time Commitment: 10 - 15 hours/week
Salary: $9 - $10 per hour, depending on experience
This is a work-study position - you must be eligible for federal work study in order to qualify.

Intern Positions

FIUTS offers internships for students interested in building their skills and their resume, as well as learning more about the field of nonprofit management, international education, and marketing and administration. Internships are similar to volunteer positions, but require more regular hours and a commitment of at least one quarter.

If approved by an academic counselor, it is possible to earn credit for a FIUTS internship. For more information about receiving academic credit, consult your academic advisor and the Executive Director at FIUTS. Internships with academic credit should be focused on a project that directly relates to your field of study or the class for which you will receive credit. Past interns have created projects related to public relations, event planning, nonprofit management, technology, and accounting and finance.
