FIUTS is celebrating 60 years of linking international students, US
students, and the Puget Sound Community. FIUTS provides opportunities for cross-cultural
friendship and dialogue through short term homestay programs, education outreach, volunteer opportunities, Wednesday Lunches, student
activities and more. Join us!
FIUTS (Foundation for International Understanding Through Students), is an independent (501c-3)
non-profit organization founded on the University of Washington
campus in 1948. The founders' mission was to enhance international understanding
and promote cultural exchange between UW internationals and Americans. They
wanted to create an environment where ideas, issues, and the spirit of internationalism
could be fostered. Today, in our 60th year, FIUTS continues this tradition
through programs that stimulate discussion and participation among the community,
our members, and volunteers. FIUTS has become a place to meet people from
around the world or from around the corner who come together to establish
links of friendship and communication.
Former Governor Gary Locke on FIUTS:
" The programs you continue to offer year in and year out help to strengthen
Washington State's existing global ties and lay the groundwork for many more.
Be they youth exchanges between Hyogo Prefecture and Washington State, support
services for the University of Washington's international student population
or educational outreach in our local schools, they all contribute to our enriched
understanding of the world."
