Is FIUTS just for International students?
No. All University of Washington students, scholars, faculty,
staff as well as Puget Sound community members are encouraged to participate
in FIUTS. For those
who are on or close to campus, we offer the weekly Wednesday Lunch.
In the coming months we will be expanding our efforts to include all
those with
an international interest within the friendly confines of FIUTS.
For community
members bitten by the international bug, we offer several ways to
get involved. One is, of course, Wednesday Lunch. Another option are the
various cultural
exchange and educational programs we offer for both students and
teachers. For those of you with a spare bedroom, we are always looking for
individuals
and families willing to host a student or scholar for a week or so
when they first arrive and are adjusting to the new environment.
What is the relationship and history between FIUTS and the University of
Washington?
FIUTS is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to serve
the needs of the international student body at the University of Washington
as well as to establish and enhance the integration between that group, the
broader university population, and the wider Puget Sound community. Because
its primary purpose has been to serve the needs of University of Washington
students, the University has generously provided FIUTS with space to do our
work.
As part of our continually evolving relationship, while working closely
with the University to best meet the needs of students.
FIUTS makes every effort to maintain its objectivity and independence
from
the University.
