Where are you from?
Hello everyone, my name is Wenyi and I come from Shanghai, China. I completed my high school there and am now furthering my studies at UW.
What’s your FIUTS story?
I first heard of FIUTS when I was joined some international student organizations and activities. Personally, I think FIUTS plays an important role for students to express their opinions. That's the reason why I choose to join FIUTS. During the interview, the president and I had a really an enjoyable chat, and found we have the same view about holding activities and uniting the group. I will try my best to contribute to the group and hope we can have a good time working together this year.
How will you change the world?
I hope to use communication to make the world a better place. During my year studying abroad, and especially right now during such hard times, I realize a lot of misunderstandings happen because people have totally different cultural backgrounds. If we can use communication skills well, we can seek common points while reserving differences to avoid many contradictions.
Wenyi Qiu is a sophomore pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Social Work at the University of Washington. She hopes to change the world by improving global communication around complex cultural issues. She is the ASUW Representative 2020-2021 FIUTS Student Board.
