 Spouses and families of UW international students and scholars are
an important part of our community here, and we look forward to getting
to know our international families.
Several of FIUTS’ programs focus on spouses and help them
practice English, make new friends, share experiences and learn about
other resources. In particular, the following programs below may
be of special interest. All programs are free with a FIUTS family
membership.
English Conversation Class: Expand vocabulary,
make friends and practice speaking English. Sponsored by the University
Christian fellowship,
this class is non-denominational and open to all faiths. Held on
Thursdays in the HUB 2nd floor lobby from 4:30-6 pm.
UW Faculty Auxiliary: The FIUTS office partners
with the University of Washington Faculty Auxiliary in connecting
international women
and the wives of international faculty here on campus. The Faculty
Auxiliary has dozens of interest groups, from hiking to gallery
walk to cooking classes, all of which are available in greater
detail
from the FIUTS office. Contact the Auxiliary at uwfacaux@u.washington.edu.
Volunteer Opportunities: Help build international
friendships and promote international goodwill. Join the FIUTS
team as a volunteer
at Wednesday Lunch, in the office or with spouse programs!
You can also participate in all regular FIUTS activities easily,
with the FIUTS Family Membership Option--just $25 dollars a year
covers your whole family. Please note that while spouses and children
are welcome at some events, spouses and children are prohibited from
riding in UW vehicles on the FIUTS Trips and Tours. Please contact
the FIUTS office to arrange separate transportation for your family.
We welcome your active participation in any or all of our programs
throughout the coming year.
