The American Leadership Experience (ALEX) with Ukraine
About the Program

FIUTS partnered with the American Councils to host the the American Leadership Experience (ALEX) with Ukraine. The ALEX Program is a short-term visiting program for undergraduate students from Ukraine. During the 1-week program in October, 2023, students gained understanding of U.S. diversity and the U.S. education system, grew their leadership capacity, expanded their English language skills, and became acquainted with people and places of interest in Seattle.
Community Members were invited to host one or more ALEX participants for a week. The Homestay is an important opportunity for participants to learn about U.S. culture and connect with local people.
Seattle area university students could get involved in the ALEX program by applying to be a FIUTS Student Ambassador. Ambassadors are a critical piece of the program and act as peer mentors, cultural liaisons, friends and student leaders. Ambassadors learned new skills, built their resume, made international friends and had fun!
