Name: Kedi Yan

Major: Electrical and Computer Engineering
Class: Graduate Student
Introduction
My name is Kedi, and I am a first-year graduate student majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am from China and was born from the capital city of Henan Province.
What does it mean to be a FIUTS facilitator?
I love the moment when I can have meals from different countries with a person from that country. Becoming a FIUTS facilitator enables me to build friendships with lots of international students.
What is your favorite anecdote as a facilitator?
My favorite FIUTS moment was when people enjoyed the events that my colleague and I planned hours and hours. During the CulturalFest International Expo, I helped the booth captain of Ghana and spoke out the Ghana culture to elementary school kids. It is a joy to see students appreciated different cultures regardless of age and nations.
How have you grown as a leader through being a facilitator?
When I become a student facilitator and start facilitating events, I certainly feel the pressure on your shoulder, and that pressure is the so-called responsibility. I had learned lots of ice-breaking, energizer activities, and master the teamwork, leadership, and more and more interpersonal skills.
What tips or comments do you have for peer facilitators?
FIUTS has a lot of events you can participate to learn about leadership. New student leaders can find their leadership style while mature leaders can re-define the leadership through the events. Joining the FIUTS committees is also a good way to practice leadership. Anyway, being active and involved is your key to success.
