Meet Diana Gao

Diana Gao has performed at some of the top concert halls in China, and you can see her on Saturday at CulturalFest!

Diana Gao is one of twelve acts that the audience at the 2014 CulturalFest Performance Showcase will have the opportunity to enjoy. Diana, a University of Washington student from China, is a singer and dancer who has performed in some of the top music halls in China, including Beijing Concert Hall, Forbidden City Concert Hall and the stage of China Central Television Station.

Diana says, "I like performing on the stage since I enjoyed the process of communicating with my audience through singing and my facial expressions." She has been singing Chinese folk songs for eight years, and the song she will perform at CulturalFest is a song of the Miao nationality, an ethnic group in China. The song describes a typical day in a Miao village. Diana explains why she chose this song to perform, saying "I hope to communicate the culture of Chinese minority ethnic group to the audience from all over the world through my performance and give them a visual delight."

We're looking forward to seeing Diana at Meany Hall tomorrow, along with eleven other amazing acts from around the world! Tickets are available for $15 at the door starting at 6:30 PM, and the show starts at 7:30. Hope to see you there!
