Faces of FIUTS: Meet Juliet
Faces of FIUTS is a social media campaign that collects personal stories from individuals who are part of our work. This week, meet Juliet!
Where are you from?: I consider myself a global citizen. I call all of the places I've lived long enough and built strong attachment with my home. That includes Changsha, Seattle, Amsterdam, London, New York, and currently Washington D.C.
What's your FIUTS story?: I made more than half of my college friends through FIUTS. I still keep in touch with most of them. It feels great that wherever I travel, there is always an old friend to catch up with and show me around. One heartwarming story: when my friend got married, we sent her a wishes video for her wedding from our mutual FIUTS friends from all over the world!
How will you change the world?: I am a medieval art historian. I would love to contribute my knowledge and passion to the growth of European medieval art history as a specialisation in the academic discipline in my home country. It is my goal to expose the next generation of Chinese students to not only the fascinating art of our own culture, but also that of medieval Europe. I hope to pass the mindfulness and appreciation of other cultures on to my students in the future.
Juliet graduated from UW in 2016 with a double major in psychology and art history. She recently completed an MA degree in art history at New York University, and is excited to be starting a PhD this fall at University of Maryland, with a focus on late medieval and early modern Northern European art. She was a FIUTS Facilitator from 2013-2016, a Student Board member 2014-2015, and served as the Chair of Wednesday Lunch and Co-Chair of CulturalFest International Expo.
Faces of FIUTS is published regularly on the FIUTS blog, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Read past posts collected here!
