Faces of FIUTS: Meet Rituraj
Faces of FIUTS is a social media campaign that collects personal stories from individuals who are part of our work. This week, meet Rituraj!
Where are you from? Although I am an Indian citizen, I was born and raised in Tokyo and lived there for 18 years. I would say that I am from Japan.
What's your FIUTS story? The very first FIUTS Embark session was a game changer for me. I was very shy and worried about how my experience at the UW would be especially since I didn't know anybody in Seattle. Furthermore, I had never traveled/lived alone in my life. The pandemic did make things a lot more uncertain as well. However, the FIUTS community was so welcoming and helpful in my transition to Seattle, I was very touched and inspired.
How will you change the world? I will change the world as much as I can by helping people whenever they need it. I have always focused on uplifting and helping others, whether it be classmates, friends, family or even strangers. Although I do not know my career path/line of work for sure, I believe that small actions like these will allow me to make a difference.
Rituraj Sohoni is a sophomore studying computer science. He is a current member of the FIUTS Student Board, serving as co-chair of the CulturalFest Performance Committee. He has also performed at CulturalFest and been a member of the Global Gala Committee.
You can support programs that give students like Rituraj opportunities to learn, grow, and broaden their perspectives by making a gift to the FIUTS Annual Campaign.
