FIRST, INTRODUCTIONS:
My name is Jaden and I use he/him pronouns. I'm from Issaquah, Washington, USA, and I'm a freshman pursuing Computer Science and Music.
How did you first get involved with FIUTS?
I first heard about FIUTS at my Advising & Orientation and quickly became involved as a facilitator that summer. I got to know a lot of people through facilitating events and joining committees for CulturalFest and Global Gala.
WhY did you join the FIUTS Discord?
I don't remember when exactly I joined the Discord, but I first heard about it at one of the FIUTS events. I chose to join it to keep staying connected with people in the community outside of just the events.
What do you think are the advantages of connecting with the FIUTS community on Discord? Why should students join?
I think the best part has been getting to know people better and feeling like I'm really part of an inclusive community. I've made quite a few friends through it that I would not have otherwise, and in general it's great talking to people about their interests, experiences, and other miscellaneous topics. In addition, I love how people share their favorite shows or pictures of their favorite foods! In general, I really enjoy being in the Discord as it's a very welcoming environment, and I'm grateful for all the connections I've been able to make.
What's your favorite channel on the FIUTS Discord? Why?
My favorite channel is the #husky-help channel because it's a straightforward way to get quick responses about various random or specific questions! It's been a great way to get experienced-based answers that are hard to find through Google. I'm also a fan of the Games voice channel - it's always a fun time hanging out and playing video games with each other!
