Faces of FIUTS: Meet Jaden
Faces of FIUTS is a social media campaign that collects personal stories from individuals who are part of our work. This week, meet Jaden!
Where are you from? I'm Chinese-American: I was born and raised in the Greater Seattle Area, though my family is from China.
What's your FIUTS story? I first heard about FIUTS through my advising and orientation session as an incoming freshman. I've always been interested in creating connections across cultures, so I was instantly drawn towards the opportunities FIUTS presented. I became a facilitator and committee member, and bonded with lots of people at different events. FIUTS really provided me a sense of community and showed me the positive impact that my leadership has on the people I meet.
How will you change the world? I care a lot about inclusivity and hope that everyone can feel valued for who they are. A big part of creating more inclusive environments is to converse and create understanding across different perspectives. To contribute to this, I've shared various experiences about being a member of the LGBTQ+ community as well as having a disability, and also participated in diversity-related groups on campus.
