My name is Anesu Blessing Shadaya. I am from Zimbabwe and a FIUTS 2019 SUSI on Civic Engagement alum.

I'm also known as the Social Innovator because of my aim to improve the welfare and well-being of individuals and communities. The FIUTS program gave me vast knowledge when it comes to leadership and presentation, As a result of the FIUTS SUSI program, I acquired knowledge and experience through the study tours to various organizations, profit and not for profit. The interactions I had whilst in the US .gave me a robust knowledge of project formulation and management, budgeting, etc. This prepared me for my current work as I experience SUSI activities in my daily work life.

I joined Grow A Tree Foundation as a Graduate Trainee with limited to zero knowledge about the environment however I managed to turn the tables. I did never imagined one day I would talk about Climate Change with the nature of my studies but it was indeed a matter of time after joining GTF first as a Graduate Trainee before I was finally confirmed to my current post I started learning about climate change through reading books, my favorite being the one How to Avoid a Climate Disaster by Bill Gates my mindset changed I now understand the importance of our earth and what we should do in order to save it.

My current work though my employment involves the provision of tailor-made Solutions and Trainings on how to green our environment, research and advocacy, technical advice on climate change, and training of individuals and cooperates on the value of earth ie sustainable development climate change mitigation strategies investment opportunities in Zimbabwe.

Today 22 April 2022 Earth Day, Grow A Tree Foundation is hosting a webinar with various stakeholders directly or indirectly affecting our planet and those with an interest in protecting our environment. The webinar objective is to create awareness on conservative initiatives that can be engaged to help save the planet and more importantly how these stakeholders can invest in the planet ie generate revenue whilst reducing Green House Gases that are warming our atmosphere.

Individuals can participate in Earth Day by volunteering in community clean up, planting a tree, educating, conserving water, etc

Anesu at a smart climate agriculture village project he and his community did with a 1.5 hectors of papaya IPB9 variety which takes 9 months from planting to harvesting of 1st fruits which are off reducing Green House Gases in the atmosphere at the same time providing food in the form of fruits to communities

As an accountant by profession to further my career I'm on the verge of sourcing funding/scholarship so that I enroll in a master’s or professional courses in Climate Finance. Climate Finance refers to investments that support significant reductions in Green House Gases emissions and financial measures that help adapt to the current and future impacts of climate change
