Faces of FIUTS: Let’s Meet Kashyap

My name is Kashyap and I will be one of your MCs for the FIUTS CulturalFest!

I’m a Master’s student at the University of Washington, majoring in Information Management, and graduating this June (super excited!).

I come from Delhi, India. After growing up there, I headed to SRM on the outskirts of Chennai as a clueless 18-year-old. Later, I began my career at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise in Chennai—a golden, defining period for me. Alongside work, I started learning French at Alliance Française de Madras. Despite breaks, I reached B1 level, though I sometimes wish I’d kept going.

Having ventured abroad for the first time as an international student, I’ve always sought out new experiences beyond the usual. For me, these adventures make life so much more meaningful! So, I jumped at the chance to be an MC—especially since FIUTS has played a key role in my Seattle journey, from the splendid Welcome Week cruise in Fall ‘23 to a tea party at the UW President’s official mansion, and more!

What excites (and slightly daunts) me is that CulturalFest will be at the iconic Benaroya Hall—home of the Seattle Symphony and a true testament to Seattle’s culture.

A little bit more about the adventures I’ve embarked on in Washington so far:

1. Hitchhiked from Langley, Whidbey Island, to Seattle with a friend in Spring 2024

2. Took a late-night Ferry to Bainbridge, with a friend, made friends with an on-break merchant     navy captain, and walked across the deserted island, late at night

3. This Spring break, I completed the Olympic Loop on a road trip with Friends, through 36+ hours of incessant rain! 

Honestly, life’s been a rollercoaster—and I’m grateful for every twist and turn. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at the FIUTS CulturalFest
