FIUTS Discussion Series on Race & Racism in the U.S.

Join us for a weekly virtual discussion series focused on race and racism in the United States. These discussions provide a welcoming space for international and U.S. students to deepen their understanding of the historical and contemporary role of race in the U.S and globally.

We encourage participants to plan to attend all five sessions in the series in order to build a more connected community of dialogue.

Date: Tuesdays, April 13th - May 11th

Time: 4:30-6:00 PM, PDT

This week’s topic: Introduction to Race in the U.S.
In order to understand how to be antiracist, it is important to understand our own identities. In this introductory session we will focus on bringing our own identities and experiences into conversation. We will also begin to understand the racial history of the Pacific Northwest by discussing the impacts of '“redlining” - segregated housing policies - in the Seattle area.
