FIUTS students celebrated Earth Day with a volunteer project to restore the Duwamish Greenbelt.

On Saturday, April 20, a group of FIUTS students from around the world got together to volunteer for Earth Day. The group worked hard to restore the Duwamish River Shoreline as part of a volunteering event coordinated by the Duwamish Alive! Coalition.

The event included not only a few hours of planting native plants and pulling up invasive blackberry to restore a healthy greenbelt, but also a festival to celebrate Earth Day. It was an opportunity to build the local community while also being a part of a global effort to promote environmental responsibility. As participant Supachai Pongsantisuk said, "That we volunteered last Saturday is not only for Seattle but also for the entire world."
