Performance Committee Prepares for CulturalFest

Hundreds of people joined FIUTS for the CulturalFest International Expo last week, and we are excited to welcome hundreds more for the Performance Showcase on Saturday, February 25, at Meany Hall. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with pre-show entertainment and interactive cultural booths, and the performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale NOW in the FIUTS office (HUB 206) or online.

Travelling around the world is a lot of people’s dream. But usually the amount of people who can make this come true is pretty few. If there is a chance for you to explore more about the world in one night, that would be the FIUTS CulturalFest Performance Showcase. CulturalFest is an indispensable part of FIUTS’s tradition, which includes the CulturalFest International Expo and the CulturalFest Performance Showcase. Every year for the showcase, performers with entirely different backgrounds come onto the Meany Hall stage and provide the audience with an image of how diverse the world is.

Behind a full stage of heavenly harmonies, marvelous moves and dazzling dances, the CulturalFest performance committee worked very hard to make sure everything is on track and dedicated to present the most impressive performance to the audience. The CulturalFest performance committee is responsible for every detail behind the scenes. Starting from recruiting performers and attending auditions for each group, to selecting the programs and deciding the lineup, the whole committee made their biggest effort to be fair to each performing group or soloist and to consider more from the audience’s point of view. Committee members are also the bridge between the performing group and the whole committee, which makes everything more efficient and improves our communication as well as collaboration skills at the same time. We were delighted to see that performers were imagining how they are going to control the stage while in the Meany Hall walkthrough; we also struggled to decide which programs are going to be on the stage this year. No matter what we do, the performance committee is here to make sure the whole process is going smoothly and successfully, especially under the leadership of Amy Bergstrom, Jiaqi (Kyki) Li and Saki Uwagawa.

The FIUTS CulturalFest Performance Showcase is a stage that celebrates diversity and spreads the cultures of the international community in our region.
