SUSI on Civic Engagement Week 3 Recap

Let’s check in with our SUSI on Civic Engagement participants and what they’ve been up to for the past week…

The group attended a session on Climate Change and Sustainability and got their hands dirty on UW Farm, sowing the seeds of change in sustainable agriculture. As a special visit, they stopped at UW Food Pantry, and witnessed firsthand the power of compassion and the impact of community support. Over the weekend, the group-of-twenty went on to explore Seattle's vibrant streets, mingled with FIUTS ambassadors and host families, and made unforgettable memories! Then, the SUSIs started their week with a fun night of bowling and pizza along with their ambassadors.

The next day, SUSI participants spent the day on Bainbridge Island. Starting at Red Pine Park, they teamed up with the horticultural staff to nurture and maintain the gardens. Thereafter they had a profound experience at the Japanese Exclusion Memorial, where they learned and honored the history of those who endured injustice.

Living in a multicultural society presents both opportunities and challenges. Let's embrace the diversity around us and delve into the vibrant tapestry of cultures.

And let's celebrate our learning from one another!
