Cultures are intricate and complex. A comprehensive explanation of any one culture eludes all of us. That’s why FIUTS CulturalFest has been around for almost 30 years: each year we have returning and new representatives of the same cultures, trying to enrich the diverse portfolio of their single cultures.
The Sri Lanka Booth welcomes a new captain this year. Dhanshika is planning to showcase the rich history of her country from her perspective.
My name is Dhanshika Vijayaraj. I am a Sophomore at UW, and an active SASA Board member for the Cultural Committee.
I am inspired to participate in CulturalFest this year because I believe in the power of cultural exchange and understanding. CulturalFest provides a unique platform to celebrate the rich tapestry of diverse cultures, fostering connections and breaking down barriers. By engaging in this event, I aim to contribute to a more inclusive community and promote appreciation for the uniqueness that each culture brings. Through shared experiences and open dialogue, we can build bridges that unite us all.
Being a Booth Captain means taking on a leadership role and responsibility for the successful execution of a specific booth or activity during an event like CulturalFest. As a Booth Captain, one is entrusted with coordinating and overseeing various aspects of the booth, ensuring that it aligns with the overall goals and themes of the event.
Sri Lanka has such a diverse culture and traditions! I am to showcase the rich history that they have.
Events like CulturalFest play a crucial role in fostering cultural understanding within the community in several ways. Firstly, they provide a platform for the celebration and sharing of diverse traditions, customs, and heritage.
