This I Believe was originally a radio program hosted by journalist Edward R. Murrow. The show brought listeners together during the uncertain times of the 1950s. This inspiring phenomenon later became a wide-known practice of creating essays titled “I Believe in ___” being no more than 500-600 words to continue the sharing of impactful stories and beliefs.

From August 9-16, 2022, FIUTS is thrilled to welcome students from Latvia as part of our Youth Entrepreneurship Program! During their week with FIUTS in Seattle, they’ll participate in workshops, site visits, and volunteer service activities focused on entrepreneurship and social impact work. From June to July of 2022, FIUTS hosted 20 high-achieving students through the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) on Education and the Future of Work. Students were selected from the countries of India, Indonesia, Tunisia, Brazil, and Nigeria.

Alumni Impact is a social media campaign that recognizes the excellent work being done by FIUTS alumni all around the world. This week, we have an update on United Women in Health, an organization founded by SUSI 2021 Education and the Future of Work alumni, Mariana Lemes Diamanto and Mariana Manso from Brazil!

The fun isn’t over! There are plenty of opportunities for recent grads, new and current students, and others to continue to build cross-cultural understanding in the coming months. Read on to learn about being a Facilitator, Student Ambassador, FIUTS Intern, and upcoming events!

Students from any university in the Puget Sound region are invited to join FIUTS! Student members at FIUTS are interested in cultural exchange, sharing experiences, and exploring the Puget Sound Region with others. When you become a FIUTS member, you are joining an active and engaged global community, supporting the work of our dynamic organization, and receiving great member benefits! On April 21st, FIUTS celebrated our sixth annual Blue Marble Bash! It was a beautiful sight to see our community gathered in one place for the first time in a long time and every single attendee gave their support for FIUTS programs.

During the event, three inspiring students shared their FIUTS stories and the impact FIUTS’ has had on their journey at the University of Washington. Read on to hear from Margaret Tu, Tomoka Xie, and Julian Jordan and their tales on bravery, leadership, and community.

The FIUTS MLLI is a virtual exchange for young journalists and media-makers in Mali. Participants learn about media literacy, combating misinformation, leadership development, and project planning while connecting with peers and professionals in the U.S.

Although this program is currently online, FIUTS has still had the opportunity to have FIUTS Student Ambassadors involved. Ambassadors are a critical piece of the program and act as peer mentors, cultural liaisons, friends, and student leaders. During the 16-week virtual exchange program, the MLLI participants and FIUTS Student Ambassadors will learn from one another and developed a special friendship!
