Faces of FIUTS: Lena Lee
Faces of FIUTS is a social media campaign that collects personal stories from individuals who are part of our work. This week, meet Lena!
Where are you from?
I am a second generation Korean American who was born and raised in Washington. I would say that I grew up in both Tacoma and Yelm, Washington which are very different from one another. This has enabled me to realize that even within Washington there are so many different cultures to learn about.
What's your FIUTS story?
I heard about FIUTS from a close friend during my junior year last year, and how FIUTS connected people from various cultural backgrounds and its mission of advancing a global community. I have found the FIUTS community to be so purposeful and focused on helping people connect. Working at FIUTS for the past couple of months, I have already been positively impacted and constantly amazed by the loving and kind individuals that I have met across the community.
How will you change the world?
My goal is to become a health educator who is aware of diversity and promotes understanding and human connectivity. Through my experiences of volunteering with various non-profit organizations, and working with FIUTS, I seek to help promote healthier lifestyles and assist underrepresented populations.
